I took Kat Richards’ “Painting Prints” class in the summer of 2022 and wow, I loved it. Kat has perfected an idiosyncratic and totally radical style of press bed printing and instead of hoarding what they know, shared it with the class in a clear, you-too-can-do-this way that blew my mind. Their generosity is so much a part of their practice; it reminded me of Andy, who had taken this class the previous summer and recommended it to me. The style here owes so much to Kat’s art; I’m still learning my own. I got obsessed with mixing paints and making gradients but I wanna expand on what I learned and keep making prints.
